A newly renovated, all-season, modern bungalow with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a tiled pool is located high up the Dempla hillside of Tavronitis. Drive down a paved, private road toward the end where an ornamental, stone arch stands tall framed by colourful, blooming flowers leading you to a sea-blue pool. Look straight ahead to the sea with Chania in the distance. Look to the right where the White Mountains loom. Olive groves surround the property.

The home was extensively renovated in 2014 and again in 2016, both with care and attention to fine quality and modern details. A local, highly esteemed general contractor and his team of craftsmen performed both renovations. In 2014 the project included installing a tiled pool; a shatterproof, glass partition with stainless steel railing running along ¾’s length of the pool; a black, wrought-iron fence and motorized gate; an expansive, tiled veranda and two-car parking and an outdoor hot/cold shower. A highly esteemed, professional gardening firm planted the lush gardens encircling the home and pool. Bougainvillea, roses, flowering ornamental trees, and various herbs flourish in the bright Cretan sun. All windows and French doors leading to the three verandas are aluminum, double-glazed with fly screens and matching shutters. External storage was added under the house and there is a storage shed on a concrete slab in the rear yard. There is an in-ground sprinkling system for the rear and side yards.

The large, open kitchen was renovated 2014 to include dramatic, handcrafted, black lacquered wood countertops; black tile backsplash; chestnut-stained wood cabinets; a massive breakfast bar/island with seating for four; a Samsung refrigerator with freezer and a Candy dishwasher. There is a Gorenje washing machine concealed in a cabinet. A curved, ceiling arch was added to define the open concept areas of the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. Walk through the French doors in the living/dining areas to the main veranda. You will notice there is an identical, curved arch defining the exterior living/dining areas from the pool and patio. In 2016 the kitchen was further enhanced with a new, easy-to-use Siemens electric range/stove with 10 convection and convention settings and a new Izzy microwave. A new stainless steel, double sink with drainboard and a collapsible faucet were installed allowing the kitchen window to open. Not only does the kitchen look good, it works offering ease, convenience, and plenty of space to create.

The “Jewel Box”, as it is named by the current owners, was transformed into a year-round residence in 2016. It was equipped with new Rointe electric heaters in all rooms and in the bathrooms and towel heaters with complementary finishes. New Inventor air conditioners in the two bedrooms and the open concept kitchen, living and dining areas were installed. All heaters and air conditioners can be Wi-Fi controlled.

Both bathrooms were gutted and renovated in 2016. Walk-in showers with glass enclosures were outfitted with wall mounted, handheld and rain style shower heads. The wood cabinets in each bathroom are wall hung with single sink vanities. The tile insets of the bathroom floors have been repeated on the shower floors and up the shower walls. The new toilets are flush-to-wall design, dual flush, and soft-close lids. New, sophisticated light fixtures with LED lighting complete the bathroom renovations along with new mirrors, medicine cabinets and stylish stainless steel faucets.

The final 2016 new upgrades include: exterior light fixtures, enlarged solar water heater, 1000 liter water tank, 1.5 horsepower water pump and complete rewiring to accommodate three-phase electrical system ensuring adequate power. In 2017, an iVMS-4500 HD video surveillance system with four, one-gigabyte cameras was installed.

You can drive east on the nearby National Road to Chania in 20 minutes, to Souda in 25 minutes and to Chania airport in 35 minutes.
