The town of Platanias is a busy tourist destination, particularly popular for its good tourist infrastructure and the many options for dining and nightlife. It is located in the homonymous municipality, about 10 km west of Chania.

Platanias has an extensive beach, which features facilities in most of its part and has gray sand and pebbles. Along the coast you will find many beach bars and places where you can enjoy coffee, a drink or the excellent cuisine of the island. There are also countless options of sea sport activities that vary from a relaxing fishing trip to extreme sports such as jet skiing, paraflight or kitesurfing.

Around the area of Platanias you will find many sites of cultural and of historical interest, dating from the Late Minoan period up to the Second World War. Also, do not miss to visit the picturesque villages of the municipality and lose yourself into their endless olive groves.
