Sentoni Beach near Sfakia, Chania, South Crete

This marvelous pebbly beach in southwest Crete has deep blue waters. There is no road going to Sentoni and the only ways to get there are either by boat from Sougia or by trekking through the European path E4 that connects Sougia with Agia Roumeli. The journey through the path is extremely beautiful but the hike from Sougia to Sentoni lasts about 4-5 hours and therefore requires good physical condition and some experience. Along the beach there are several beehives and some makeshift shelters.

If you head west of the beach you will find many secluded coves with pebbles and the exit of the gorge of Tripiti, where there is one cistern with potable water and the chapel of Saint Nicholas, which is built on the rock. Sentoni is located in the Cape of Tripiti where was situated the city of Poikilassos, the seaport of the ancient city of Elyros and a very important trading port for the Egyptians.
