AN OLD OLIVE FACTORY OF THE 18TH CENTURY
The property is in a quiet village of the municipality Platanias, about 15 minutes' drive south from its center. It is an old stone-built oil mill, which has been listed by the Central Council of Modern Monuments of the Greek Archeological Service and you can restore it to its original traditional design.
The building is estimated to have been constructed in the year 1780 and was a family oil mill until the 1980s. A large part of the building is uncovered and therefore repair of the walls and reconstruction/replacement of the roof are required, in order to become functional. The property maintains part of the olive oil processing tanks as well as the traditional winch, which was modified to operate with electricity from 1940 to 1958. These elements can be used very nicely in any kind of repair and may give in the final result, great potential in the future. The building also has high ceilings with imposing arches that support the large roof and divide the interior spaces.
The layout and the size of the building allow the construction of a small guesthouse for business use or a spacious residence with 4 to 5 bedrooms. In its original design the building had a loft, which if you reconstruct it, you will have excellent views of the White Mountains to the south.
