RESTORED OLIVE FACTORY WITH A HIGH POTENTIAL

The property is located in the small town of Platanias, in a central location but at the same time away from the noise of the vehicles and the shops in the area. It is an old oil mill, which has been restored by an internationally recognized architect and is currently used as a holiday home. It has many impressive elements and a traditional character. The wider area has played an important role during World War II and this property, as a factory at that time, was occupied by German troops in order to be used as a headquarters.

The plot of the property is large enough for the area and has remaining buildable area of up to 640 m² of covered areas for main residential use. The ground is slightly sloping with southwest orientation and is divided into large flat terraces. There are 40 mature olive trees, which are enough for the needs for olive oil of an average family as well as fig, lemon and orange trees. A large part of the plot is fenced with a stone wall, which in combination with the trees offers excellent privacy in almost all areas. A wide driveway starts from the front of the plot and ends at the back, where the residence is located, passing ruined buildings of the old oil mill, of which the walls have remained and various other parts such as old millstones, an old oil press and countless carved stones with which beautiful paths have been constructed. Even from its lowest area, the plot offers panoramic views over the verdant plain of the Keritis river and up to the sea. The views will be unobstructed, if you decide to remove some of the trees while if you construct a two-storey building you will have north views to the islet of Agioi Theodoroi from the upper level.

In front of the main entrance of the house there is a large yard. The building is simple but also quite impressive. The arches of the oil mill create large interiors and on the southeast side there are openings that let in plenty of light. Entering the residence we find an open-plan living and kitchen area on the ground floor. Two large arches divide the entire ground floor into large areas, where provision has been made for two additional bedrooms. Currently, there is a master bedroom, which is located on a loft of about 25 m². Between this level and the ground floor there is an internal balcony. There is also provision for an extension of the loft by about 10 m² in order to add extra storage spaces or simply expand the bedroom.

The property is unique and has taken part as an exhibit in periodic exhibitions that are related to the architect. Its advantages allow you to develop it and build a profitable business. Alternatively, you can maintain it as a luxury home or add extra rooms, a swimming pool, a themed garden or anything else according to your taste and needs. Platanias is of significant tourist and residential interest. Within a short walking distance there are countless restaurants as well as any kind of infrastructure for your daily needs all year round. The city center of Chania is about 20 minutes' drive.
