A 500-meter-long walkable path leads to the beach, where you'll encounter numerous cedars showcasing impressive formations, along with a multitude of campers. The beach is a well-frequented spot for free camping, and rightfully so, as you can easily find shade along the coastline and several meters inland, even during the peak of the tourist season. At the trail's entrance, there are mini markets and taverns where you can obtain everything you might need.
The beach derives its name from the small church of Agios Ioannis situated on a hill slightly further west, affording a view of the sea and the lush slopes in the vicinity. The broader area holds significant archaeological importance and is protected by the authorities. Scattered throughout the forest are remnants of ancient structures, carved tanks, and a cemetery dating back to the Hellenistic period, officially designated as an archaeological site.
